Vision of Pun'e own Yoga fest

It was a long-time dream to organise a Yoga Festival in Pune. The idea was to get experienced Yoga teachers, subject matter experts, Doctors on the same platform to create an awareness of the great benefits yoga has to offer to all age groups. We want to demonstrate different forms of yoga under different and experienced teachers and show people the enjoyable and fun element in yoga.

Invite experts for talks on Yoga Philosophy, Q&A sessions, educate practitioners on safe practice, different paths of yoga, different types of meditations, engage young children in yoga, meditation and so on…

Finally, many look at yoga only as a Asana practice, a physical movement, whereas yoga is a way of life. There’s lot happening to the mental faculties once you begin to immerse in the asanas. And that is also what we want to expose the urban yogis to. Basically, attract more masses towards this beautiful science.

The long-term objective of this event is to promote Pune as the spiritual capital of Yoga in India. To do this, we need to organize an event that showcases the best aspects of Yoga in Pune.

Yog Utsav held in November 2018 was very well received. And we are humbled by the love and encouragement showered on us. This will be our second year and we wish to grow it every year. Keep adding new features, plans to the event.

Brief History

Sarika & Zahabbiya have been conducting various workshops, wellness retreats for individual groups and corporates for some years in their individual capacity. Zahabbiya conceptualised and organised Yoga Carnival that was received with great enthusiasm and encouragement. This event brought different yoga teachers together and the participants learnt different forms of yoga. This was followed by both Sarika & Zahabbiya conceptualising Pune Yoga Social in June 2017, a space that that has been bringing like-minded yogis together since then to celebrate yoga once a quarter on a Sunday morning. The positive response at both the events – Yoga Carnival & Pune Yoga Social pushed us further to realise our dream of organising Pune’s very own Yog Utsav on a bigger scale and invite many more people to celebrate yoga as science, as a way of life.

A Brief History

Yoga has been quickly gaining popularity as a form of exercise. However, many have preconceived notions about yoga being very slow or boring or meant only to stretch the body or meant only for women. This event aims to make sure that people are exposed to the other interesting facets of yoga that many urbanites seem to miss – mindfulness and awareness.
